Johanna Naber Prize 2026
In October/November 2026, the Johanna W.A. Naber Prize will be awarded for the 24th time for the best thesis (Master's level) in the field of women's/gender history. The thesis should add something to the existing literature by expressing an original vision or containing new data. The thesis preferably has an intersectional and interdisciplinary approach to history.
The prize is awarded by Atria, Institute on Gender Equality and Women's History and VVG Platform for Women and Gender History with the aim of promoting research in the field of women's/gender history. The award ceremony will take place in October or November 2026.
How can you participate?
You do not have to be a historian to participate. Anyone who has written a final thesis in the field of women's or gender history (at master's level) at a Dutch or Flemish university is eligible for this prize. The thesis must have been completed between 1 January 2025 and 1 January 2026.
The deadline for submission is 1 June 2026.

Johanna W.A. Naber (1859-1941)
The award is named after Johanna Wilhelmina Antoinette Naber, author of numerous historical studies and in 1935 one of the founders of the International Archive for the Women's Movement (IAV), from which Atria evolved.
