Ingrid studied Sociology at the University of Groningen, specialising in Education and Family. In 2008, she obtained her PhD from Utrecht University with a study on the division of labour in Dutch households. From 2005, she worked as a (senior) policy advisor for the Council for Public Health and Society (RVS) and both its legal predecessors RMO and RVZ.
