The Aletta Jacobs Fund is an independent support foundation and aims to provide financial support for the activities of Atria, Institute for Gender Equality and Women's History. The board is formed by four independent members who perform their duties unpaid and according to the code of governance culture. Board members are appointed for three years and may be reappointed once. The board meets four times a year and is supported in its work by Atria.
Board members of the Aletta Jacobs Fund
All donations to Atria go through the Aletta Jacobs Fund, an independent foundation with ANBI status. From 1 October 2026, the Aletta Jacobs Fund is looking for two new board members: a board member with knowledge of fundraising/charity sector and a treasurer.

About Atria
Atria is the Institute for Gender Equality and Women's History. We collect and manage sources on women's movements and gender equality and make them widely accessible to science and society. As an independent knowledge institute, Atria bridges the gap between research and social change. We support researchers, policymakers and social partners with our expertise and collection and contribute reliable knowledge to the social debate on gender equality. Our goal is clear: to empower women in all their diversity and thus contribute to an inclusive and just society. From 1 June 2026, Atria will be located on the Hamburgerstraat in Utrecht.
Who are you?
As a board member, you want to contribute to Atria's mission by supporting projects in our field of activity. This may involve stimulating and facilitating research into women's history and gender equality, or making special collections accessible. But also forms of knowledge dissemination, such as lectures, or other types of programming.
You have some knowledge of and affinity with Atria's activities in the field of gender equality.
You are able and willing to act as an ambassador for the institute and use your network for this purpose.
You have some administrative experience (is an advantage but not a requirement).
For the vacancy of treasurer, you have relevant experience in Finance & Control.
For the vacancy of board member with knowledge of fundraising/charity sector, you have relevant experience in assessing plans for fundraising activities and, if necessary, act as a sparring partner for Atria's development & relations manager.
