On Friday 30 October 2026, from 1.00 pm, we will be guests at IHLIA in the OBA Oosterdok in Amsterdam for a special WikiFriday. That afternoon, we will be joined by Thomas Wormgoor, a pioneer of Dutch trans gender equality and a key voice in the history and future of transgender care and gender equality in the Netherlands.
Wormgoor studied developmental psychology and Dutch law and has been a strong advocate for transgender people since the 1980s. He was involved in the founding of Transvisie and Transgender Netwerk Nederland, worked to improve support for young people, and contributed to the first quality standard for transgender care.
This Friday also forms part of National History Month, with the theme ‘Body and Mind’.
On 30 October, Wormgoor will talk about his personal history and his long-standing commitment to trans care and gender equality. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear first-hand about an important chapter in Dutch LGBTI+ history and to share that knowledge with a wider audience.
