Library collection

Atria's library collection includes some 120,000 books, brochures, reports, dissertations, theses, journals and articles on gender equality and women's movements, as well as sheet music by women composers. The material is mainly in Dutch and English.

The library collection is very diverse, from leading academic publications within gender studies and gender history, to popular publications with gender equality as a starting point. For instance, there is a rich collection of - often self-published - feminist magazines such as Flamboyant, Lover, and Ashanti. But we also have Gedenkboek van de demonstratie voor vrouwenkiesrecht op 18 juni 1916 (Memorial Book of the demonstration for women's suffrage on 18 June 1916) en De vrouw. Haar bouw en haar inwendige organen (The Woman. Her build and her internal organs) by Aletta Jacobs. And there is a collection of unique unpublished material that has historically had a great impact on women's gender equality, such as (research) reports, journals, brochures, dissertations and theses.

In recent years, more and more digital publications have been included that can be read directly online.
